Baby Gym

A baby gym is a simple frame that holds toys dangling above a baby lying underneath it. With the toys placed just within reach, the baby is invited to look, reach, grab and kick, which helps develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination in the first months.

I built ours from simple wood dowels and planks that can be bought in any hardware store, using basic hand tools and a few small power tools. The legs fold flat against the crossbar, so the whole gym collapses and can be put away in minimal space when it is not needed.
